OUR STORY

In 2005 Blistur was formed in Jacksonville, Florida, by original members.... Drummer Neal Gupton and Lead vocalist and guitarist Chris Kellam.

Blistur rapidly established themselves as one of the most demanded original bands in North Florida, South Georgia and eventually booked by venues, bike rallies and festivals as far west as Sturgis, SD and south to St. Maarten, Dutch West Indies.

Performing over 220 shows a year, Blistur quickly secured an enormous fan base across the United States playing to crowds from  200 - 10,000.
BLISTUR HAS BEEN DESCRIBED AS "THE LOVE CHILD OF TOOL, METALLICA,  PINK FLOYD AND RUSH"

BLISTUR HAS BEEN DESCRIBED AS "THE LOVE CHILD OF TOOL, METALLICA,  PINK FLOYD AND RUSH"

Each member of Blistur draws from diverse influences..... Metal, big band, swing, hard rock, blues and progressive.

The band members describe composing a song like looking at a giant palette of colors to choose from. The best ones come naturally without thinking too much on how to fit the lyrics into the mood of the song be it comical, dark, moody, angry, happy or inspirational.

Life is comprised of many emotions. No one is in the same mood every day,  so why be tied down to one sound? Let's just make a great song!

   & GUITAR
Chris Kellam is one of two founding members of Blistur. He along with Neal Gupton founded Blistur in 2005.

Chris is from Charleston, South Carolina and raised in Jacksonville, Florida. Surrounded by music influences in his family Chris went to school at Douglas Anderson School of the Arts in Jacksonville, Florida to enhance his already established talents.

Chris' song writing talents began as a teenager. A song on Blistur's upcoming album, "2020 End of The World", called "I need you" was written by Chris when he was 16 years old. He has held on to this song for 30 plus years waiting for the right time and the right group to release it with. Early reviews say this will be a hit and was compared the Foo Fighter's "Everlong".

Chris whole life has revolved around writing and playing music. Chris played with the following bands: Loose Wires, Moments Notice, Stone Ghost, Top Shelf, Out of Order, Herd of Turtles,
Sweatin Bullets & Blistur.

Sweatin Bullets is where Chris met Neal Gupton. After seeing they both saw things the same way including a full time musical artist career, they both left Sweatin Bullets and founded Blistur.

In addition to family Chris' influences coming up in his career were:  Jimmy Page, Ronnie Perry, Eddie Van Halen, Yngwie Malmsteen, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Steve Vai, Metallica, Roger Gilmore.

Chris' favorite charity is the Make a Wish Foundation. Chris is based out of Jacksonville with his wife Heather and their daughter Grace.

When Chris was asked in an interview recently Why does he do this for a living? His response was "I do it for the love of the music and what it does for me and the crowds I play for. Having a creative outlet in life is important for sanity and happiness. To be able to play and write music for a living is a blessing".

Neal Gupton is one of two founding members of Blistur. He along with Chris Kellam founded Blistur in 2005.

Neal was born and raised in St. Augustine Florida where he always had an interest in music since a pre-teen. Through school and after his education Neal played for many bands in his career in addition to performing in the Orchestra pit for all touring Broadway shows coming through the Northern Florida area. Neal's Orchestra experience included: Camelot, The Music Man & Nunsense.

Before Blistur Neal gained his experience over the years by playing with the following bands: Nervous Diversion, The Attraction, We're Detectives, The Hitmen,
Billy Van Kirk, AJ & The Country Gents, Radar, Inner Sense, Radio Savannah, The Boondogglers, Hence The Persuasion, Fat Sachel, Liquid Blue, Sweatin Bullets & Blistur.

After moving to Jacksonville Neal heard about guitarist/vocalist Chris Kellam as being THE guy all the bands wanted to have in their lineup. After seeing Chris perform it was obvious why the whole city felt that way. But both were like two ships passing in the night - always mutually committed to other projects. In the early 2000s the stars aligned and they both got the chance to work together. Sweatin Bullets is where Neal met Chris Kellam who was also with the band. After seeing they both saw things the same way, including a full time musicical artist career,  Neal left his corporate career, they both left Sweatin Bullets and founded Blistur.

Neal's influences coming up in his career were: Buddy Rich, Gene Krupa, Neal Peart, Dennis Elliott, Alex Van Halen and Stewart Copeland.

Neal's favorite charity is the Make a Wish Foundation and many Military family charities. Neal lives in Jacksonville with his wife Rachel.

Neal was asked by a music journalist why is it important for Blistur to connect with fans? He responded by saying "No artist can succeed without fans. But the word fans always sounds so pretentious, because we end up being friends with those who show up night after night and never seem to tire of our music. We owe our current fans/friends and new listeners alike something new and ever changing - so that the show they see us at today is a different experience the next time. Whether it be through our recorded works or live performance, we owe it to any listener not to waste their time. We want to give them the very best every time".
Steve Capp was born and raised in Yonkers, New York. He, like the Blistur's founding members, always had a love for music. His journey to becoming a member of Blistur was much different from Neal & Chris. Steve completed a career as a NewYork City Police Officer serving New York City for 25 years and raising a family. When he retired he traveled and settled in Florida in 2009. Steve played for one other band after retirement which was Hideaway South.

Blistur was searching for a Bass player and Steve saw Blistur playing a show. After the show he pulled the bass player aside and told him how much he enjoyed his sound and that he also played bass. The temp bass player told Steve go talk to Neal & Chris they are looking for a new guy. So an audition was set up and the rest is history. After an eighteen month search for the right bass player replacement, they knew right away he was the one. Steve is the fourth bass player in the history of Blistur amongst many temps. Steve also brings keyboards to the group adding a sound they did not have. Now three years with Blistur, Steve adds input on arrangements and song selections.

His influences coming up in his career were: Geddy Lee, Paul McCartney, Yes, Black Sabboth and Pink Floyd.

Steve is based out of St. Augustine, Florida. His son Joesph is a Police Officer with the St. Augustine Police Department and his youngest son Matthew just left the Marines after 6 years and is an executive with an Arizona tech company.

First Responder Charities are nearest to his heart.

BLISTUR is the best rock band not just in Northeast Florida but anywhere.. They should be doing nationwide tours.. If I could go see any rock band anywhere, including Aerosmith, Rush or Pink Floyd, I'd go see BLISTUR instead.

This is an amazing, professional band with highly talented musicians. The song selection is entertaining, and the vocals are on spot. Guaranteed a great time.
